Classes

Unlike in most traditional RPGs, most of the Player Characters in a Pokemon Campaign are expected to be Human. In unusual circumstances, one or more party members might be a Pokemon, but this is the exception and not the rule. All Humans start with the following traits:

Human
Ability Scores: +2 to one ability score
Size: Medium
Speed: 6 squares
Type: Normal
Languages: Two regional languages
Bonus Feat: Select one extra feat at 1st level.
Skilled: One additional trained skill at 1st level
Defense Bonus: +2 to two saves
Hit Points Per Level: 5, plus Con score at first level
Talents: At each level, Humans may select a talent from their Occupation’s talent list.

Pokémon
Ability Bonus: +2 to one ability score a -2 to another based on its Nature.
Size, Speed, Type: Varies
Languages: Pokespeak plus one Regional language at 12 Intelligence.
Trained Skills: Each Pokemon starts with any two 2 skills as Trained Skills. At each Tier it gains an additional class skill.
Defense Bonus: +2 to two saves
Hit Points Per Level: 5, plus Con score at first level
Techniques: At each level, the Pokemon may choose a new technique. Every Pokemon also starts with one Basic technique.

Talents

These are nowhere near complete, but I'm posting what I have finished by popular request: Class Talents
Some of these are original, some of them are based on d20 Modern Talents, and some are just Pokemon techniques that fit the class.

Occupations

Each Human player begins the game with a starting occupation that determines part of their back-story and focus, as well as what talents are available to them. Some occupations have additional requirements, such as a specific alignment or minimum age.
Starting Equipment: All characters are assumed to begin play with a Pokedex, 1000Pen, an adventurer's kit, 6 Poke Balls, and 2 Potions, in addition to one of the starter Pokemon native to their region. In exceptional circumstances, other starter Pokemon may be available.

Career Paths

Upon reaching 11th level, each Human may enter an advanced occupation from any of those in this chapter. Nearly all careers have additional requirements, such as a specific alignment or minimum ability scores. They continue to gain talents and bonus feats normally.

  • Pokémon Ace - An expert trainer who has reached the epitome of trainers everywhere and truly intends to catch them all
  • Pokémon Blackbelt - Excels at unarmed combat and training Pokemon for battle.
  • Pokémon Commander - Can command a small squadron of Pokemon and grant bonuses to nearby allies.
  • Pokémon Gangster - A boss who gains underlings and lieutenants.
  • Pokémon Medic - Specializes in healing Pokemon and creating helpful items and foods.
  • Pokémon Professor - Seeks to master knowledge of Pokemon abilities, myths, and rumors.
  • Pokémon Outlaw - Employs illegal moves and stolen Pokemon in battle.
  • Pokémon Ranger - A trainer who gives up the ability to catch new monsters, instead calling the Pokémon in the area to aid him.
  • Poke Scientist - Creates Pokemon related technology, such as technical machines.
  • Pokémon Specialist - A trainer who focuses on one type, becoming increasingly more adept at the expense of other types
  • Pokémon Soldier - Specializes in conventional ranged weapons and tactics.
  • Pokémon Trancer - A person with natural psychic talent.

Destiny

Upon reaching 21th level, each Human may choose from any of those available to them. Nearly all destinies have additional requirements, such as a specific alignment or minimum ability scores. They continue to gain talents and bonus feats normally.

  • Aura Guardian - You have mastered the ability to manipulate the life force called Aura
  • Elite Specialist - Like the Elite Four, you take type specialization to its maximum potential.
  • Frontier Brain - You are a expert strategist who is not restricted to any Pokemon or team.
  • Pokémon Master - You literally are the very best. The Master intends to catch them all.
  • Team Boss - You're the one behind it all. With your legion of followers, who can possibly you?
